4. Compact or reflex camera

2007-06-26

You should buy the compact camera, if you come to conclusion that you don't have high expectations. The text from the previous page was developed with the idea to help you find that you want to use the camera quite seldom and the photos watch on the computer or develop photos without computer processing in the small sizes (e.g. 10X15). Because it means that the advanced device with the excessive parameters it's not fit to you. What you need is a small well-shaped nice camera and above mentioned features should be helpful in choosing a right model. Any resolution will satisfy you and there can be 4 or 5 as well as more million pixels with the condition that you can afford it and you will like its shape. Everyone wants to have the biggest display that is available, but is important to remember that very often the bigger display means the quality of the view is worse. It's caused by the amount of the pixels which usually is the same in the displays with the different resolution. The optical zoom also will be available in almost all the models. The digital zoom shouldn't be taken under consideration because it cause the "artificial" view appear when it's used - the processor analyse the seeing image and it define how it will look the enlarged photo. Thus, it's not the real enlargement of the image as the result of the certain position of the lenses but it's result of the processor work.

The detailed information about what to pay especial attention is described in the next part of the article. Here you should only decide on buying the compact or reflex camera and consider its standard. Maybe it happens that the compact is not enough for you and your demands rather indicate the digital SLR camera. I can only recommend you the reflex if you seriously think about photography and you've got already the compact camera, which turned out to be not enough for you. You can also buy the camera above your requirements if you have enough money for that. Remember - The decision is always up to you. What i try to do is only indicate what equipment will be suitable for you.

You should remember a lot of people are satisfied by the shapely compact camera because of plenty advantages of it. If only the quality of the photos fulfil their expectations they are contented by the its handy pocket-size shape and also by its automation. The compact camera have many applications and you don't have to care about the settings. The only thing you have to do is to choose the correct application, e.g. snow, and the camera is ready to take the photos at the snowy scenery.
NOTICE: not every camera has such an application. It's needed to familiarize oneself with the functions!

The reflex cannot offer such an application. Instead, it can work in the completely manual cycle what allows to set all the parameters as you like during taking a photo. However, it requires good knowledge about rules of photography. The advantages of the compact and the reflex cameras are described in the next part of the article.

I want to suggest looking through the Internet and learn about some models before you take a decision. Do not buy it hastily just because the advertisement was particularly beneficial . Compare the prices in the Internet and check how the prices differ. Always read the technical specification and check how the particular models differs one from another. Such a specification you can find also in the Internet, must often on the web pages of the producers. In the next pages of this article I give the hyperlinks to these web pages.

If you don't have high expectations and you want to buy the camera for the hundreds of PLN, because you are aware of the funds, the type of the power supply will be more interesting for you than the size of the image sensor. The practical advice about the purchasing you can read on the page What else should You Know?
